Private schools in TN to conduct this STEP for evaluating class 10 students
The students studying in class 10 in Kancheepuram and in Chengalpet districts of TN would have to appear for this new evaluation test in April.
With the cancellation of the board
examinations, the private schools in the above said districts have come up with
their own evaluation. It is said that 15000 students would be appearing for the
Standard Ten Evaluation Programme 2021 or STEP 21 from 21st April to 24th
April. The reduced portions released by the SCERT under the previous year pattern would be taken into consideration for setting up of the question papers for the students of class 10. The students would have to appear for question papers of English, Maths, Tamil and Social Sciences for 100 marks and question paper for Science subject for 75 marks.
As per Mr. N. Vijayan, patron, Unified District Self-financing Schools Association, the schools allot groups to the students based on the class 10 marks for admitting in class 11. Most schools have been planning for school levels tests as there were no quarterly and half yearly examinations due to Coronavirus pandemic. He concluded that a district level test would be conducted.
Information is that the association plans external superintendents and common evaluation of answer scripts for more than 300 schools in 2 districts. Truth is that this test would be good for the students and for the teachers also and the parents have given a green signal.
An official belonging to the school education department pointed out that there was no bar on the schools to conduct such tests for the students
